Northern Gannets on Heligoland
The „Songs“ of the Northern Gannets
The Northern Gannets are sea-birds, distributed over the whole arctic sea for most of the year. Only for breeding they come ashore. In central Europe their only breeding habitat is the small island of Heligoland. They touch down with high speed, diving quite deep into the water to catch fish like herring, codfish and whatever they get. In addition, they are elegant long-distance-flyers.
