The European Starling
During October the European Starlings start their migration flight south
The European Starling grows to a size of about 20cm. It is a gregarious bird, accumulating and roosting in great numbers on power lines before the migration flight starts. They are chatty as well, and they can be heard from far.The adult birds have dark heads, while the young ones are light brown. The young have a lower rank as well, and often they get chased away by the elder. But even the old birds do not like all of their colleagues, and sometimes an unwanted intruder in the line is fought away fiercely.
